This course is all about effective leadership - from the mindset, to communication and managing change. 

Over 4 months, you will be guided, challenged and focused - to unlock your potential to be the best leader you are capable of.

Trauma in dogs and cats can cause a range of potentially serious conditions, from obvious injuries, such as fractures, open wounds, and external haemorrhage, to serious head trauma, internal haemorrhage, and life-threatening injuries of the chest cavity. This 4-week course will approach the trauma patient from the standpoint of emergency management. From respiratory tract trauma to management of open fractures, and a lot in-between, we’ll present the very latest in management strategies, to give your trauma patient the best chance of survival.

Severe illness in dogs and cats can result from many disease conditions, including trauma, inflammatory diseases such as pancreatitis, severe infection, immune-mediated disease to name just a few. This 4-week course will focus on the end-result of these severe illnesses – the development of systemic inflammation, and the organ dysfunction and failure that frequently transpires.

Along the way, we will uncover specific management strategies used to reduce the severity of systemic inflammation, as well as develop specific plans to manage the complications of severe illness when they occur. You will also receive practice protocols, useful algorithms for disease management, and great summaries of the enormous amount of literature published on this topic as well!

Fluid therapy is essential in the management of many small animal diseases - surgical, medical and emergency medicine! This course will review the essentials you should know about fluid therapy - including monitoring your patient - so that your fluid therapy is as effective in practice as it can be. We will cover fluid dynamics, creating a fluid plan for your patient, shock, blood transfusions, and fluid therapy in different disease states - such as diarrhea, renal failure, heart disease, cesarean and more!

The ANZCVSc examination emphasis is placed on a logical, problem-based approach to cases in order to accurately diagnose and manage the disease processes, along with the requirement to posses a detailed knowledge of pathophysiology and treatment of a wide range of emergency and critical care disease conditions.

In May and June of each year, a live tutorial on examination technique will be presented - the May tutorial aiming to guide your technique in the written examination, and the June tutorial to help you cope with the oral examination.

Throughout the course, we will place links to allow you to log into the live Vet Education Webinar Series lectures as well.
